Manyi Cristofoli, Director

Manyi has been working in the UK higher education knowledge transfer field over the last 15 years and leading the ICUK programme since 2007. She also serves as the Board Directors of Queen Mary Research and Consulting (Hong Kong) Limited, Mary Education Management Advisory (Beijing) Co. Ltd and Juwei Co. Limited. She is a frequent contributor to the UK government policy research in UK-China joint innovation, intellectual property protection and technology commercialisation. Before joining the public sector, Manyi was the founding member and senior executive of two technology start-ups specialised in Bioinformatics and Engineering, responsible for in international business development and licensing and based in London and Shanghai over 8 years. Manyi has BSc in Engineering from Tongji University, a MBA in Innovation Management from Imperial College London, and a LLM in Intellectual Property Laws from University of London.

Dr. Xuemei Li, Partnerships Manager

Xuemei has joined the ICUK team since September 2018, responsible for developing best-to-best collaboration and long-term sustainable partnerships; supporting major funding applications for UK-China collaborative research; assisting technology transfer activities involving Chinese enterprises, and working with key UK and Chinese authorities in developing high-profile bilateral partnerships. Before Joining ICUK, Xuemei was the Science Officer at Bactest, responsible for providing scientific understanding, technical and sales support for the online-respirometry: Shepherd, and publication of papers. She was a professor at Shanghai Advanced Research Institute, Chinese Academy of Sciences from 2011 to 2015 and at Nanjing University of Technology during 2007-2011. She holds a PhD in nanofabrication (University of Twente, 2003), a Master of Engineering degree (Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics, CAS, 1997), and a Bachelor of Engineering at Dalian University of Technology (1994).

Shirley Lam, Project & Event Manager

Shirley has joined the ICUK team in May 2016, focusing on the management of major FCO funded UK-China innovation projects and partnering events organisation. She also supports the development of new partnerships between QMUL life sciences and medical school academics and Chinese research institutes and technology companies. Before joining ICUK, she worked as a conference organiser and organised events in a wide range of sectors covering finance, digital marketing, innovation and big data. After graduating from her Masters, she worked in various labs as an intern (University of Hong Kong, Dept of Microbiology and Imperial College London, Dept of Cell and Molecular Biology) and research assistant (University of Oxford, Dept of Experimental Psychology). Shirley obtained her B.Sc. in Medical Biochemistry from King’s College London, M.Sc. in Infection and Immunity from UCL and M.Ed. Psychology of Education from University of Bristol. She also attended a short course in Bioinformatics at the Bloomsbury Centre for Genetic Epidemiology and Statistics.

Xiaojing Guo, Enterprise Relationship manager

Xiaojing has joined the ICUK team since September 2018, she works closely with QM academic at the School of Business and Management and members of ICUK to conduct a comprehensive market analysis and to develop detailed business plan for the joint technology developed by the UK and Chinese partners. Before joining ICUK, she worked as an international officer in the University of Wales: Trinity Saint David, responsible for planning strategies, budgets and coordinating for international office team to develop business in China; exploring and maintaining partnership operations with Chinese agents and education providers. She has a BA in Literature in Hunan International Economics University, an MSc in International Business Management from Bournemouth University and an MBA in Marketing from Cardiff Metropolitan University.
