ICUK holds successful Forum on sustainable building technologies

Cutting edge low carbon technology from the UK was on display in China last week when a group of UK companies, funded by an ICUK grant, travelled to China to take part in the UK-China Innovation Forum on sustainable building technologies.

The forum, which included technology partnering events in Beijing and Shanghai and visits to low carbon science parks, is one of ICUK's Global Partnership Fund events, and was jointly organised byICUK and the Beijing Commission Sustainable Development Centre. After four months of rigorous partnering work, 9 participants were chosen from an initial list of 30 applicants.

The 9 UK companies, whose technologies ranged from thin film solar panels to carbon negative construction blocks, presented their products to a targeted Chinese audience of companies, research institutes and government officials, all working in the sustainable building materials sector.

The innovative UK technologies that were presented at the event attracted strong interest from the Chinese participants and discussions relating to possible future collaboration opportunities are ongoing. Several have already started planning their next trip to China.

ICUK has several exciting events planned for 2011-12. Please check the ICUK website regularly for updates and application deadlines.
