King's College London
King's College London is one of the oldest and most prestigious UK university institutions with 13,000 undergraduate students and some 6,000 postgraduates in nine schools of study. King's has a strong track record in research excellence, with twenty-four of the College's subject-areas awarded the highest rating of 5* and 5 for research quality in the last UK research assessment exercise, demonstrating excellence at an international level.
King's is in the top group of UK universities for research earnings, with income from grants and contracts of more than 111 million (2006-07).
Working closely with industry is pivotal to the success of our mission to drive pioneering technologies to market. Our interactions with industry are managed by King's College London Business which is responsible for developing new business interactions and commercial opportunities for King's with business, industry, commerce, the public sector and creative and cultural organisations and for managing research grants on behalf of the College. With both outward and inward facing roles; it is responsive to the needs of business and alert to new opportunities from within the College community.
King's has a wide range of research interactions in place with institutions in China across a range of themes that have business applications. Particular examples include: Traditional Chinese Medicine, collaborations with: Beijing TCM University, Chinese Academy of Sciences; Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics; Heilongjiang University; Shanghai Institute of Materia Medica; Tsinghua University; West China University; Chengdu. Engineering of metamorphic mechanisms, collaborations with: Dalian University of Technology; Shanghai Jiao Tong University. Engineering of multilayer mirrors, collaborations with: Tongji University, Shanghai.
